    On Saturday, August 15, 2009, Wright suffered a concussion after being unintentionally hit in the helmet by Giants' pitcher Matt Kane. Wright was put on the 15-day diabled list due to post concussion symptoms, including a headache.     David Allen Wright was born in Norfolk, Virginia on December 20, 1982. He would attend Hickory High School in Virginia where he would be named to three All-State teams and the Virginia Player of the Year.   • Pro Career

    Wright was selected with the 38th pick in the 2001 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Mets. He would make his major league debut on July 21, 2004. He would establish himself as the everyday third basemann for the team. In his first season he would hit .293, with 14 home runs. He would also earn Rookie of the Year honors from This Year In Baseball. He would be named to his first All-Star appearance in 2006 playing third base for the National League All-Stars. In 2006, he would sign a 6 year contract worth $55 million dollars for the New York Mets. In 2007 Wright would earn a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger award at third base.MLB.com: David Wright Bio
