Louisiana Senator David Vitter, while attempting to evade questions from the press after a town hall meeting at the Gonzales City Hall, accidentally hit a "No Parking" sign in the parking lot. No one was injured in the accident, which was caught on tape by a local news station and quickly found its way onto the Internet.
Vitter left the scene immediately after the accident, but a representative from his office then contacted local police, offering to pay for any damages.
Vitter has been implicated in the prostitution scandal surrounding D.C. Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey. He has admitted to visiting Palfrey's prostitutes, which he calls "a very serious sin," but has provided no further information about his involvement in the case. He is currently still serving his first term in the Senate.
