Ex-NY Giants receiver David Tyree, whose legendary helmet catch helped defeat The Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, is being criticized for his anti-gay comments.c During a June 15, 2011, interview with the National Organization for Marriage, the 31-year-old athlete claimed that legalizing gay marriage would lead to "anarchy."c Tyree also went on to say that our "society will lose it's grip with what's right."c

In response the following day, a representative for the Human Rights Campaign, in reference to NY's recent passing of a gay marriage bill, said that it will "result in nothing more than a more just and equitable society."c 

GLAAD has lashed back by saying, "Tyree's statements are as misleading as they are ridiculous." 

Tyree—a devout Christian—retired from the NFL as a Giant last summer.c
