David Sedaris is a humorist known for his personal essays and appearances on the radio show This American Life.
On June 3, 2008, Sedaris released his sixth book When You Are Engulfed in Flames.
Publications and Awards
David Sedaris' best-selling books include the collections Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice as well as the autobiographical collections Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim.
Holidays on Ice contains the essay "Santaland Diaries", which was first broadcast on NPR's Morning Edition; it's Christmas-time broadcast has become an annual public radio tradition.
In 2001, Sedaris received the Thurber Prize for American Humor and was named the "Humorist of the Year" by TIME Magazine. He was been nominated for two Grammy Awards for the spoken word recording of Dress Your Family in Corduroy & Denim and David Sedaris: Live at Carnegie Hall.
The Talent Family
David Sedaris is the brother of comedian Amy Sedaris with whom he has collaborated on several stage productions, including The Book of Liz, under the name "The Talent Family."
