David Poole

David Poole was a sports reporter for the Charlotte Observer, and the paper's NASCAR correspondent beginning in 1997. On April 28, 2009, he was stricken with a heart attack and died at age 50.USA Today: Longtime Observer NASCAR reporter dead at 50 (April 28, 2009)

David Poole began his career as a journalist in 1981 as city editor at the Gaston Gazette. He joined the Charlotte Observer in 1990 and became the paper's NASCAR correspondent in 1997.
