On May 22, 2008 New York City stockbroker David Holzer was arrested on charges of stealing $16 million from six of his friends.
Holzer told the individuals that he would invest their money but instead spent it on jewelry, furniture, cars and real estate both for himself and his family.
Holzer is thought to have begun stealing in 2002. He left his job at Brean Murray & Co., a prominent brokerage house, in 2003.
Holzer plead not guilty to all charges. Police say they have audio recordings of Holzer admitting to the crimes.
He is currently in prison on a $2 million bail awaiting trial.
