Dave Reichert is a U.S. Representative from the 8th Congressional District in Washington State. First elected in 2004, he has been appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee, the President’s Export Council, and the National Security Solutions Group, as well as several subcommittees. Before becoming a congressman, Reichert served with the King County Sheriff’s Department for over 30 years. He had been hit in the head with a branch while chopping firewood. Questions about his fitness for duty arose as campaign season escalated later that year. Biography
David George Reichert was born in Minnesota, but his family moved to Washington State in 1951. He attended Concordia Lutheran College in Portland, Oregon where he met his future wife, Julie. After graduating with an A.A. degree, Reichert joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1971 and served through 1976.http://reichert.house.gov/Biography/
In 1972 Reichert joined the King County Sheriff’s Department. Rep. Reichert speaks in support of Katie's Law (H.R. 4616), which would provide funding to states to collect DNA samples at the same time as fingerprints for violent crimes.
