David DeJesus

  • Major League Baseball outfielder David DeJesus currently plays for the Kansas City Royals.

    DeJesus was originally drafted on June 3, 1997 by the New York Mets, but chose to attend college at Rutgers University. He was drafted again in 2000, this time signing with the Kansas City Royals on June 5, 2000. He joined the Royals' minor league affiliates in 2002 for his first few years of conditioning.

    On September 2, 2003, DeJesus was called up to make his MLB debut, playing in a total of 12 games that year. He joined the Royals for 96 games in 2004, hitting 58 runs and seven homeruns. DeJesus was also sixth in voting for the MLB Rookie of the Year Award. In 2004 he earned a full roster spot with the Royals, averaging 120 games a season over the next two years. DeJesus played in a career high 157 games in 2007, finishing with 157 hits and 101 runs.
