American Idol contestant David Cook performed the song "Innocent" on the April 8, 2008 episode of the program. It was Cook's first performance back after being rushed to the hospital after the previous week's result's show. Cook sited the original performers "Our Lady Peace" as one of his main musical inspirations. At the end of the song he showed his hand to the camera, written across it was "Give Back". This was in reference to the Idol Gives Back episode and fundraiser that is scheduled to air on April 9, 2008.

- "Can David C. keep up his hot streak? First, famous Fox reality mogul/dwarf Mike Darnell shows up. David is doing Innocent by Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace. No guitar, as Daughtry-esque as I've seen him, and when he ventures into this territory, you realize his voice probably isn't as strong as Chris'. Kind of drowned out by the backing singers, who are all over the songs this week (except Jason's). He sings directly to the judges, which provokes Paula's usual Great Silkie-like reaction (her "seal" of approval, that is). Randy is still unimpressed and says it fell short. Paula steps on his lines and says he's "it." Simon didn't like it much at all and thought it was pompous. Paula will not shut up; even Simon has to tell her to calm down. Simon finally makes his point that it wasn't as good as his last few performances."
