David Buehler began his collegiate career at Santa Ana College in 2005 and transferred to the University of Southern California in 2006. David Buehler was the first kicker drafted in the 2009 NFL Draft being selected in the 5th round by the Dallas Cowboys. He handles the team's kickoffs and has not attempted a field goal yet for the Cowboys in a regular season game. He did, however, make his only field goal attempt in a pre-season game against the Oakland Raiders on August 13, 2009. He is the teams kicking specialist on kick returns and is also used on the punt coverage team.
David Buehler 2009 Season
David Buehler did not attempt a field goal this season but he did finish as the NFL leader with 29 touchbacks. The 29 touchbacks also set a new franchise record for most touchbacks in a single season, which broke the previous record of 27 by Lin Elliot during the 1992 season.
David Buehler 2008 Season
David Buehler started all 13 games as a senior for the University of Southern California in the 2008 season, he successfully made 9 out of 13 field goals. He also made 65 of 66 extra points. Buehler finished the 2008 season with 48 total touchbacks on 88 kickoffs. He was named 2008 Kickoff Specialist Trophy Recipient by the College Football Performance Awards.

David Buehler started all 13 games of the 2007 season, he successfully made 16-of-19 field goals and 52-of-54 extra points, he also made 3 special teams tackles. 53 of his 84 kickoffs kept opponents inside their 20-yard line with 18 of those going for touchbacks.
