David Allan Coe is a Country music artist, very popular in the 1970s and 1980s. Coe released 284 original songs on 54 albums and 26 LP's. Some of his most popular songs include "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," "You Never Even Call Me By My Name," and "Take This Job and Shove It."
Despite having spent the first 30 years of his life in and out of correctional facilities, Coe had three top 10 Billboard charted hits and has gone on to become an iconic member of country music. He personal life was plagued with problems, after having his home in Key West taken by the IRS due to back taxes, Coe went to Tennessee to live in a cave until he could get back on his feet.
