David Aebischer

  • Swiss professional ice hockey goaltender David Aebischer is under contract with the Phoenix Coyotes in the National Hockey League. The Coyotes assigned Aebischer to the HC Lugano of the Swiss Nationalliga A in November of 2007.
  • NHL Career

    Aebischer was drafted 161st overall in the 1997 NHL draft by the Colorado Avalanche. He joined the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League and played there for three seasons before joining the Avalanche for his NHL debut in 2000. Aebischer played 26 regular season games and one playoff game during his rookie season as the Avalanche won the 2001 Stanley Cup Championship. He continued with the Avalanche until the 2004-05 NHL lockout, when he returned to Switzerland to play for the HC Lugano. After the lockout, Aebischer played 43 additional games in Colorado, then was traded to the Montreal Canadiens on March 8, 2006. He stayed in Montreal until July 19, 2007, when he signed with the Phoenix Coyotes.
