Davey Boy Smith was a British professional wrestler who wrestled under the ring name The British Bulldog. He spent most of his career in the World Wrestling Federation before his death in 2002.
WWF Career
Smith started in the WWF as one half of the tag team The British Bulldogs, along with Dynamite Kid. Several years later, Smith would find success as a singles wrestler. Smith was a popular mid-card wrestler with a huge fan following in the UK. In 1992, the WWF held SummerSlam at Wembley Stadium in London. The main event featured Smith against Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Championship. Smith won the match, which is regarded as the best of his career. However, Smith lost the title shortly after to Shawn Michaels and was released from the WWF for testing positive for steroids.
Smith had several more stints in the WWF and WCW before his death in 2002. He died of a heart attack believed to have been the result of years of previous steroid abuse.
