Career
Dave Sim dropped out of high school to create comic books, and has only held one job -- in a bookstore -- outside of the field. His landmark work is Cerebus, which he created and published independently through his company, Aardvark-Vanaheim. Initially a parody of funny-animal books and Marvel Comics' adaptation of Conan the Barbarian, Sim gradually evolved the book into a vehicle for commentary on, and satire of, religion, politics, and Western society. Sim was the first artist / writer to have a consecutive run of 300 issues with Cerebus, a first for Western comic books. -
