Career
Dave Eggers began his career working for Salon.com as an editor. In 2000, his memoir, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. He published his first novel, You Shall Know Our Velocity, in 2002. His 2006 novel, What Is the What: The Autobiography of Valentino Achak Deng, was nominated for a National Book Critics Award in 2006.
Eggers publishes the magazines The Believer and McSweeney's under the publishing house also called McSweeney's. With Vendela Vida and NÃnive Clements Calegari, Eggers co-founded 826 National, a nonprofit tutoring center and writing school.
