Daunte Culpepper

Professional football quarterback Daunte Culpepper plays who has played for the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, and Miami Dolphins in the National Football League. For 2010 he has sigend a contract with the United Football League to play QB for the Sacramento Mountain Lions

After returning from retirement to join the Lions in 2008, Culpepper restructured his contract with the team on February 17, 2009. The financial details of the contract were not immediately announced. Following the 2009 his contract expired and he was not resigned.

Early NFL Career

Although drafted in the first round by the Vikings, Culpepper did not attain the starting job until his second year with the organization. In his first year as a starter, and with the help of all-pro wide receivers Randy Moss and Chris Carter, Culpepper was able to amass 3,937 yards, 33 touchdowns on 474 pass attempts. That season, along with two more of similar statistics, he earned a Pro Bowl selection. However, in 2005, following an injury and the resurgence of Brad Johnson, Culpepper expressed interest in wanting to be traded. He was subsequently traded to the Dolphins in 2006. After only playing in seven games in Miami, Culpepper went to the Raiders, who released him after the end of the 2007 season. Following the 2007 season, Culpepper entered free agency. He was offered backup contracts with many teams, but chose not to sign and officially retired in September of 2008.

Recent Years

Culpepper made his first start for the Lions on November 9, 2008. The Lions lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 38-14. On December 7, 2008, he injured his shoulder during a loss to the Minnesota Vikings.Detroit Free Press: Hurt Culpepper is 'Sore' Loser

In May of 2010 there were many reported rumors that Culpepper would reunite with Head Coach Dennis Green and join the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League.
