Daughtry is a pop rock band out of McLeansville, North Carolina formed in 2006 by former American Idol season 5 finalist, Chris Daughtry. The band's first album simply titled Daughtry was released in 2006. The album reached number one for two non-consecutive weeks on Billboard 200 and was named the number one selling album of 2007 by Billboard after selling more than 4 million copies..[1] Two songs in this album ranked high in play time: The first single "It's Not Over" was the eighth most played song on the U.S. radio in 2007 while the second single, "Home" was the tenth most played in 2007. A second album Leave This Town was released July 14, 2009 which has sold over 1.9 million worldwide. The debut and this album together have sold over 9.5 million copies .[2]
Members Of The Band
Chris Daughtry formed the band Daughtry after finishing in fourth place on the Idol. Auditions were held for the new band and four members were chosen: Jeremy Brady, 21, a guitarist, (who is no longer with the band) Brian Craddock, guitar and backing vocals came on board in 2007; Josh Steely, 36, lead guitarist; Josh Paul, 29, bassist (who also played for Suicidal Tendencies); Joey Barnes, 30, drummer, (who was a lead singer of Suicide Darlings and as of March 2010 has left the band). The name Daughtry was chosen as it already had recognition from the Idol.
Band Tour
Daughtry has been touring since January 2007 with performances in the U.S., Canada, The UK, Germany, Australia and Singapore. The band was an opening act for Bon Jovi's Lost Highway Tour which was a tremendous success, selling over 4 million dollars in merchandise. .[1] Daughtry joined forces with the ONE Campaign at the 2008's Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention to raise awareness about World Proverty. In 2009, Daughtry performed on Thanksgiving at the Dallas Cowboys vs Oakland Raiders football game to kick off the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign. In 2010 the band joined Nickelback on the 2nd part of their European tour. The band is now touring in the United States.
