  • Career

Das EFX made a grand entry into the hip-hop scene in 1992 when they released there platinum debut album, Dead Serious. The duo, Krazy Drayzy and Skoob, had met while attending Virginia State University in 1988 and began performing together. In 1991, the duo participated in a talent show in which the hip-hop duo EPMD were judging and all though they lost the competition, EPMD offered the duo a deal. The duo created the name Das EFX which stands for Drayzy and Skoob Effects.

They had an original style with lyrics that were described by one critic as "making up gibberish." Their lyrics ending with "iggity" had become a favorite and all though many artists criticized the whimsical lyrics, many artist soon integrated the lyric concept into their own music. The duo's unique use of lyrics became a large influence during the 1990's. By the time the duo began to record their second album, Straight Up Sewaside, their unique lyrical style had become commonplace and the group decided to give up there "iggity" style.

Straight Up Sewaside was released in 1993 and followed up with thier third album, Hold It Down which was released in 1995. After a three year absence, the duo released their fourth album, Generation_EFX which was not well received by the critics. The duo released a fifth album, How We Do in 2003 and as the previous album, was not as successful as the duo's first three albums. In 2007 the band began touring again and now planning to release a new album in 2008.
