Darth Vader

Darth Vader is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe. He is the main villain of the original Star Wars trilogy and, as Anakin Skywalker, the tragic figure of the prequel trilogy. Darth Vader is also the father of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.

Darth Vader is a remarkably menacing figure, but perhaps never more than when he held out his hand and choked someone standing across the room. This is attributable to his mastery of The Force, an energy that flows through all things in the Star Wars universe. The strength of Vader's Force mastery is what allowed him to be a capable interstellar pilot, a wielder of a lightsaber, and a user of telekinetic abilities (the kind that allows remote choking). It is explained in the prequel trilogy that his power is due to the high level of Midichlorians (microorganisms that manipulate the force) in his bloodstream.
