In February of 2008, Darren Mack was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his estranged wife, Charla Mack, and 40 years for shooting Family Court Judge Chuck Weller. He will spend a minimum of 36 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
Murder and a Manhunt
On the morning of June 12, 2008, Darren Mack stabbed his wife to death and shot Judge Weller with a sniper rifle. Mack was the target of an 11-day manhunt, during which time his story and picture were featured on America's Most Wanted. He eventually surrendered to police in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on June 22, 2008, and was returned to the United States to face charges.
