Prior to playing in the NFL, Dockett played college football with the Florida State Seminoles in the NCAA. He started in 47 games, totaling 247 tackles and 10.5 sacks, setting school records for the most tackles behind the line of scrimmage in a single game and single season. After college, Dockett was selected 64th overall in the 2004 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals.
