Darling Harbour, Sydney History
Once an area of unkempt docklands, Darling Harbour has been redesigned as a waterfront entertainment area. The harbour has been used for hundreds of years, first by native inhabitants and then by Europeans. In 1812, it was developed into an industrial and goods-handling district. However, by the 1970s Darling Harbour was rarely used. The redevelopment of the area began in 1984 and it was reopened in 1988.http://www.darlingharbour.com/sydney-Education-Heritage_and_History.htm
