  • Darius Miles is a professional athlete in the NBA. He is currently playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was drafted in 2000 by the Los Angeles Clippers. He suffered a career threatening injury while with the Portland Trail Blazers.

    On January 10, 2009, the Memphis Grizzlies signed Darius Miles to a 10 day contract. Previously in the week the Portland Trail Blazers sent out an e-mail threatening legal action if a team signed Miles with the intent to hurt the team's tax and salary cap position. If Miles plays in two more games this season, the Blazers will be required to pay Miles $18 million salary and the amount would count against the Blazers salary cap. By exceeding the salary cap the Blazers are required to pay hefty fines. In 2000, Miles decided to forgo college and declare himself eligible for the NBA draft.     In his first season with the Clippers, Miles appeared in 81 games and averaged 9.4 points. In 2002, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and in 2004 was traded again, this time to the Portland Trail Blazers.     After attempting a brief comeback on October 20, 2008, the Boston Celtics waived Miles.
