Darius Danesh Career
Darius Danesh, also known as Darius Campbell, was born in Glasgow in 1980 to an Iranian father and Scottish mother. He is a singer, songwriter and stage actor. His career began at an early age. When he was ten, he acted in the Scottish Opera'shttp://www.scottishopera.org.uk/ production of The Trojans. While studying English Literature and Philosophy at Edinburg University, he appeared in the British TV show Popstars, and, in 2001, in Pop Idolhttp://www.popwinners.co.uk/pop-idol/facts.htm. Shortly thereafter, he was signed to a five-album deal and, in 2002, his single [Colourblind]]http://www.poemhunter.com/song/colourblind-2/ hit number one and his album Dive In went platinum. His second studio album, Live Twice, was dedicated to his father who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2005. The album's title track became his fifth top-ten single in three years. Danesh is currently working on his third album.
In addition to his singer/ songwriter career, Danesh is also a stage actor. In 2005-6 he performed in Chicago, in 2007, Guys and Dolls and in 2008, he played Rhett Butler in Sir Trevor Nunn's adaptation of Gone with the Wind.
Lifestyle and Accomplishments
In addition to being a singer/ songwriter and theater actor, Danesh has also written a best selling book called Sing or Swimhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Darius-Sink-Swim-Danesh/dp/0755312813. It's a biography of his life from the beginning of his childhood career to his current successful stardom and it gives a behind the scenes look at what really goes on in TV shows Popstars and Pop Idol. It's been rumored that Danesh has had some problem with melancholia and drinking and discloses his personal feelings on both issues.
Danesh's many charitable contributions include volunteer work with the Lymphoma Association and, as a Prince's Trust Ambassador, with underprivileged youth. He also designed a guitar for Guitar Aid, an organization that raises funds for third world countries.
