Dante Wesley, a safety for the Carolina Panthers was ejected in Sunday, October 18's, game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for an illegal hit against Buccaneers punt returner Clifton Smith. Players from both teams left the sidelines after the hit, but only pushing and shoving ensued and no penalties were assessed. Smith remained on the ground for minutes but was then helped to his feet and walked off the field. At halftime, the Bucs announced that Smith had suffered a concussion.
