Danny Federici Dead

On April 17, 2008, musician Danny Federici lost his three year battle with Melanoma at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He was 58 years old when he died. Federici was a longtime keyboard player for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.

Federici was seven years old when he started playing the accordion, learning as he watched The Lawrence Welk Show. Federici was in several bands throughout his career, but the most recognized band was the E Street Team which he played the keyboard for. On November 21, 2007, Federici took a leave of absence from the band when he developed a severe form of skin cancer known as Melanoma. Federici returned on March 20, 2008 for one performance at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
