Danny Elfman is an Emmy and Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter, composer and performer. Elfman got his start performing the band Oingo Boingo with his brother, Richard.
Elfman was nominated for Best Score for his work on Milk, but the award went to A.R. Rahman for his work on Slumdog Millionaire.
Career
In 1985, Elfman made his foray into film scoring after Paul Reubens asked him to compose the soundtrack for Pee Wee's Big Adventure. It was on this project that Elfman met director, Tim Burton, and thus the two began a long and fruitful relationship of working with one another. Elfman went on to score all but two of Burton's films (Ed Wood and Sweeney Todd), which included Beetlejuice in 1988, Batman in 1989, Edward Scissorhands in 1990, The Nightmare Before Christmas in 1993, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride in 2005.In addition to his collaborations with Burton, Elfman has scored countless other films, which include Scrooged, To Die For, Good Will Hunting Men in Black, and Spider-Man. He also wrote the theme songs for the television shows, The Simpsons, Tales from the Crypt, Batman the Animated Series and Desperate Housewives
