Danny Almonte is a former Little League baseball pitcher. In 2001, he was the center of controversy regarding his age during the Little League World Series. During this time, it was revealed that Almonte was actually two years older than the maximum age to play Little League Baseball. It was determined that documents stating Almonte's birth year of 1989 were indeed fraudulent and that his real birth year was 1987, making him 14 years old during the 2001 Little League World Series. The maximum age for a player to participate is 12. Almonte was retroactively declared ineligible and his team was forced to forfeit their tournament wins.
