Daniela Ruah comes from a family of Portuguese doctors and other medical professionals. She was born in Boston, MA and lived in America until she was seven. She then grew up in Portugal. She began her career at age 16 when she landed a role in a Portuguese TV series, Jardins Proibidos or Forbidden Gardens.
When she was 18, Ruah moved to London, England where she earned her bachelor’s degree in performing arts at the London Metropolitan University. After graduating with honors, Ruah returned to Portugal. She was cast in many roles in Portuguese TV, films and theater, but chose to move to New York in 2007 to continue her studies at the Less Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
