Daniel Patrick Boyd of North Carolina was among seven people charged with terrorist conspiracy in North Carolina in July 2009. Boyd, who lived in a rural part of Raleigh, is accused of having a military-style training camp on his property. He is said to be the ringleader of the accused men.
The indictment, made public on July 27, 2009, states that the Boyd and the six other suspects were plotting " violent jihad" with the intent of "murdering, kidnapping or maiming persons" overseas.
