On April 11, 2009, Hayden began posting on Twitter about a "Tea Party" tax protest to be held on April 15, 2009, on the steps of the Oklahoma City Capitol building. His tweets, still available on his page, are paranoid and ranting, but appear to represent threats against and support of Oklahoma City resident Earl Shaffer, whom Hayden thought was a leader of the April 15, 2009, Oklahoma City Tea Party protest. One of Hayden's last posts before his arrest is "Locked AND loaded for the Oklahoma State Capitol. Let's see what happens", posted at 12:49 am April 15, 2009. The tweet links to a YouTube video of Alice Cooper singing the Ballad of Dwight Fry.Wired: FBI Arrests Oklahoma Teabagger For Twitter Threats (April 24, 2009)

After talking with Shaffer and determining that he neither knew Hayden nor was a leader of the Tea Party, the FBI chased down and arrested Hayden at his home. He was arraigned and released to a halfway house on April 16, 2009, suggesting that his threats were not serious.Wired: FBI Arrests Oklahoma Teabagger For Twitter Threats (April 24, 2009)
