Daniel Faraday

Daniel Faraday is a character on ABC’s Lost and is played by Jeremy Davies. Daniel was Eloise Hawking and Charles Widmore’s son, and Penny Widmore's brother although they never knew each other existed.

Daniel’s was raised by his mother who kept his father’s identity a secret from him. Eloise also pushed him toward a career in science, although it damaged his social life and took time away from what he really loved, Music. Daniel spent his whole life studying time and space. He experimented with time travel on his girlfriend, but she began experiencing temporal displacement and ended up in a coma. Daniel had memory damage from the experiments and was expelled from Oxford University. Charles Widmore, Daniel’s father, paid off Oxford to quietly remove all references of Daniel ever being at the university, and paid for all of Daniel’s girlfriend’s treatments. Widmore eventually approached Daniel and asked him to go to the Island, which will heal him of his memory loss. At first, Daniel was reluctant, but Eloise convinced him to go.

Daniel was part of the science team that parachuted onto the Island from a helicopter sent by the freighter Kahana, their goal was to kidnap Benjamin Linus. Daniel landed near Jack and Kate AustenKate in the Jungle, at first Daniel told Jack that they were there to rescue them, but after Jack noticed his gun Daniel was forced to admit that rescuing them was not their primary objective. Daniel started conducting experiments on the Island, such as having a missile payload is to be fired to his position. It arrived 31 minutes after it should have, and Daniel deemed it as “Not Good”. Daniel began harboring romantic feelings for his colleague Charlotte Lewis, and became protective of her. After Benjamin Linus moved the Island, those still on the Island began jumping though time as a result. Charlotte started suffering from temporal displacement and eventually couldn’t travel with the rest of the group, so Daniel stayed behind with her. Charlotte remembered something from her childhood, she revealed to Daniel that she used to live on the Island, and that one day a man came and told her she had to leave the Island and never come back or she would die. Charlotte told Daniel that she thinks that man was him. She then gave into her sickness and died in Daniel’s arms. John Locke was able to stop the time jumps, but the group was stranded in 1974. They decided to go to the Dharma Initiative barracks, there Daniel saw a young girl with bright red hair who he believed to be the young Charlotte. Daniel left the Island for several years and became a DHARMA Initiative scientist working in Ann Arbor. But he returned to the Island in 1977, and after a frenzied attempt to change the past, he unwittingly was shot and killed by his mother.
