All-Star National Hockey League winger Daniel Alfredsson is the team captain of the Ottawa Senators. Since joining the NHL in 1995, Alfredsson has consistently been one of the league's top scorers and instrumental in the Senators' reaching the post season every year he's been with the team, with the exception of his rookie season.
Alfredsson suffered a broken jaw after he was hit with a puck during a February 17, 2009, game against the Colorado Avalanche. He will not require surgery for the fracture, but is expected to miss a week of playing time.ESPN.com: No Surgery Required for Alfredsson
NHL Career
Alfredsson was drafted by the Senators 133rd overall during the sixth round of the 1994 NHL entry draft. He joined Ottawa for the 1995-1996 season, during which he earned 61 points in 82 games and received the Calder Trophy as the NHL's rookie of the year.
Alfredsson has spent his entire career with the Senators and has set franchise records for the most points, assists and goals in both the regular and post seasons. He was selected as captain of the team in 1999. In early January of 2008, Alfredsson scored his 500th career goal and set a new franchise record by earning seven points in one game.
