Professional race car driver Danica Patrick currently races with Andretti Autosport in the Indy Racing League. She is the first female driver to win an Indy Car race and has the highest finish for a female driver at the Indianapolis 500, finishing 3rd in 2009. In 2010, she joined the JR Motorsports team to race in the Nascar Nationwide Series for a partial season. Danica Patrick's learning curve in NASCAR went forward at the Nationwide Series Sam’s Town 300 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on February 27, 2010. In the final practice on February 26, 2010, Danica Patrick ranked 25th with a time of 30.454 and 52 laps. The fastest driver was Greg Biffle with his time of 29.623 and 19 laps.
Danica will be starting 37th in the Nationwide Series Sam's Town 300 on February 27, 2010. Brad Keselowski is on the pole. On lap 84, Danica gets tangled up with Michael McDowell in turn two. Danica ends the race in 36th position. Since this is her last race for four months (her next Nationwide race will be June 26, 2010), it looks like it will be awhile before we see her again.

Early Life
Patrick began as an avid go cart racer, then traveled to England at age 16, where she began training for Indy racing. In 2002, she signed with Rahal Letterman Racing, where she raced in several lower-level Indy racing leagues.
Breaking into the IRL
Still with Rahal Letterman Racing, Patrick entered the Indy Racing League in 2005. During her rookie season, she was the fourth female ever to qualify for the Indianapolis 500. She led several laps, but finished fourth after she was forced to slow down to conserve fuel.
Rookie of the year
Patrick raced in 16 additional races in 2005, finishing in fourth place again in a race in Japan. She completed the season with with 325 points, 12 overall in the championship. Following her breakout season, she was selected as Rookie of the Year both in the league and for the Indianapolis 500.
2006 Season and Beyond
Patrick continued with Rahal Letterman through the 2006 season, after which she signed with Andretti Green Racing.
On April 20, 2008, Patrick won the Indy Japan 300, marking the first female to win an Indy car race in the history of the league.
Off the Track

In February of 2009 Patrick reportedly stated that if there was going to be a movie made about her life she would want actress Angelina Jolie to portray her.
