Dancing with the Stars Season 8 Week 9
- 5/04 Welcome to Dancing with the Stars week 9. Last week we said goodbye to Julianne and Chuck. Tonight each couple will perform two dances. Looks like Melissa is here this evening will she dance?
- The show starts off this evening with Lacey, Jonathan, Anna, Kym, Louis and Dmitry performing a combination of dances.
- First up is the Ballroom Round
- The first couple on the dance floor tonight is Shawn Johnson & Mark. Last week Shawn's Samba brought mixed reviews from the judges. Tonight they are dancing the Quickstep and Mark wants to bring out her fun side. During rehearsal Shawn has a breakdown because she is feeling the stress from learning two dances this week.
- Standing Ovation
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Thinks this week was their best week ever. She gave them a 10 last week will she do it again? Nope she will take one point off because they broke the hold.
- Len: Thinks it was fun, carefree and joyful and thinks she really showed her personality. He is upset though because they broke their hold during the middle of the performance.
- Bruno: Thinks she came out and danced like Sporty Spice and loved her footwork and delivery.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
- Len: 9
- Bruno Tonioli: 9
- Total: 27
- The next couple on the dance floor tonight is Chelsie Hightower & Ty Murray. Last week Len told Ty to come out in the team dance fighting or go home. He came out took off his shirt and did a great job. Tonight their first dance is the Argentine Tango.
- Standing Ovation
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Commends Ty for coming so far in this competition but thinks he is lacking breath in your motions and he was a bit stiff still.
- Len: Thinks Ty captured the flavor and the essence of the dance. Thinks that Ty is not a natural actor but thinks he came out and performed his best dance ever.
- Bruno: Thinks he wont let anyone down with his strength and determination. The dance needed to be a little smoother.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
- Len: 9
- Bruno: 8
- Total: 25
- The next couple on the dance floor tonight is Derek Hough & Lil Kim. Last week Lil Kim's Paso Doble packed a punch and she regained her position as leader of the pack. Now that she is number one she feels the pressure to remain on the top. This week her first dance is the Waltz. This may be difficult for her because she has to be smooth and elegant.
- Standing Ovation
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Thinks she has this incredible ability to make everything seem like its great. But tonight she is looking for the little details and reminds Kim that because she is so short she must extend her arms out. She also feels that Kim had a lot of little mistakes in her footwork tonight so she wants her to come out in her next dance fighting.
- Len: Thinks the waltz is a real challenge in dance and once you get into the hold your there for the dance. He was very happy with the quality of the dance.
- Bruno: Thinks she is trying to be a lady but thinks she is much more comfortable being a tramp! He didn't feel she was very comfortable in the dance.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
- Len: 9
- Bruno: 8
- Total: 25
- The next couple on the dance floor tonight is Cheryl Burke & Gilles Marini. Last week Gilles surprised the judges with his playful side and moved up the leader board to second place. Tonight their goal is very simple they want to regain first place. The are dancing the Foxtrot. Cheryl wants him to learn how to glide and takes him to a Foxtrot competition so he can see how other dancers do it.
- Standing Ovation
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Thinks Len is crazy and Gilles performance will take him right into the finals. Thinks he finished every line, his charm is amazing because he threw his hat and a man reached for it!
- Len: Len feels as though you can 't really help but that his performance, he loved the feeling, the interpretation, Warns him to straighten his legs.
- Bruno: Thinks this dance was in a class all of its own. Very very hot, sophisticated, elegant with a great sense of theater.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
- Len: 9
- Bruno: 10
- Total: 29
- The next couple on the dance floor tonight is Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani. Last week Melissa's rib injury meant that she had to be judged on her rehearsal taped dance. Her score landed her very bottom on the leader board. Tonight they are dancing the Viennese Waltz and they start out slow but she has a new treatment going on so she is feeling a little better.
- Standing Ovation
- Bruno: Thinks she uses her arms like an angel.
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Agrees with Bruno but wants her to concentrate on using her upper body.
- Len: Thinks it had romance, musicality, great extensions of her arms, doesn't like her feet from the ankles down but the rest of her is great.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
- Len: 9
- Bruno: 9
- Total: 27
- Next up is the Latin round. To get us started we have the professional Lacey, Jonathan, Anna, Kym, Louis and Dmitry giving us a dose of Latin.
- The first couple on the dance floor for Latin round is Shawn Johnson & Mark. Shawn is worried about performing a solo. They are dancing the Paso Doble which is a very serious dance and she can't stop laughing at Mark during rehearsals. She needs to bring her Olympic face out!
- Standing Ovation
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Thinks she delivered the drama!
- Len: Loved the solo part and thinks it was clean, precise but not over exciting.

- Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
- Len: 9
- Bruno: 10
- Total: 29
- The next couple on the dance floor tonight is Chelsie Hightower & Ty Murray. Tonight Ty is doing the Rumba.
- Standing Ovation
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Unfortunately she thinks they are looking for people for the finals but admires the way he side stepped his solo.
- Len: Thought it had charm and he was very sweet by going up to Jewel. The first dance he thought Ty was a peacock and this dance he is a feather duster.
- Bruno: Thinks he is one of the most like able contestants, but we cant confuse like ability with can ability.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
- Len: 7
- Bruno: 7
- Total: 21
- The next couple on the dance floor tonight is Derek Hough & Lil Kim. Tonight they are dancing the Salsa and Lil Kim gets to shake it like a salt shaker!
- Standing Ovation
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Tells her that not in the history of the show there has been no bottie shaking like that. Thinks she got a little out of control but great to watch.
- Len: Thinks Lil Kim and the Salsa go together like spotted dick and custard, absolutely delicious. Little mistake and lost a little control.
- Bruno: Starts off by singing, Lil Kim you spin me round right round when you get down, when you get down! Thinks she is in her element and her bootie can do no wrong.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
- Len: 9
- Bruno: 9
- Total: 27
- The next couple on the dance floor tonight is Cheryl Burke & Gilles Marini. Tonight they are dancing the Rumba and Cheryl wants Gilles to bring out his inner Latin Lover!
- Standing Ovation
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Thinks most women will agree that was the most highly anticipated Rumba they have been waiting for. That was very hot but she feels like he took it over the top. He is a natural and doesn't have to try, it comes to him.
- Len: Doesn't know how it looked at home but it looked fantastic here. Didn't like them rolling across the floor.
- Bruno: Thinks it looked like ravage by the savage. Very different from his standards but very good.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
- Len: 9
- Bruno: 9
- Total: 27
- The next couple on the dance floor tonight is Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani. Tonight they are dancing a Samba. A fun crazy party on the dance floor dance.
- Standing Ovation
- Melissa's breast popped out when she jumped off the stage. No one noticed it though and only knew it after she yelled it!
- Carrie Ann Inaba: Thinks it is her job to let them know what they are doing wrong and pick out the flaws. She tells Melissa to take the week off her performance was flawless.
- Len: Thinks tonight is all about proving who belongs in the semi finals and thinks she deserves a spot!
- Bruno: Her samba had anything anybody could ever want. Beautifully executed!
