Dancing with the Stars Week 5
- 4/6 Welcome back to Mahalo's spoiler page for Dancing with the Stars. Last week we said goodbye to Steve Wozniak and Holly Madison in the first double elimination round.
- First on the dance floor is Julianne Hough & Chuck Wicks. Last week Chuck attempted a lively Lindy Hop but the judges thought he was to tame and Bruno ordered a pizza at the end of the performance. Julianne needs to push Chuck out of his comfort zone and she wants him to not think about it but even make fun of it, when he did that he got it right! Tonight they are dancing the Viennese Waltz.
- Len Goodman: Congratulates chuck for finally coming out of hibernation. Thinks he needs to work a little more on the finesse.
- Bruno: Thinks he is emerging from the shadows, wants him to keep his confidence even in the big moves.
- Carrie Ann: Disagrees with Bruno and Len, knows he has the ability to wow us but thinks he loses his confidence and stability.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
- Len: 8
- Bruno: 8
- Total: 23
- Next on the dance floor tonight is Lawrence Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska. Last week Lawrence delivered a powerful Argentine Tango but Len was not impressed saying he looked very uncomfortable doing the dance. Edyta thinks if he concentrates on being powerful and aggressive he will do great.
- Len Goodman: What he likes is the intensity but the dance quality is still not there yet.
- Bruno: Thinks he was the prince of darkness, strong, fearsome and powerful. He also thinks that Lawrence started out really bad but after a while he got the hang of it.
- Carrie Ann: Feels like when he dances there is a limited range of emotion. Wants to commend him for working with that music and the intensity was great!
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
- Len: 7
- Bruno: 7
- Total: 20
- Up next is Shawn Johnson & Mark. Last week Shawn's Lindy Hop set her apart from the others but not in the way she hoped. Bruno wanted her to do more dancing, not so many tricks and gymnastics. Tonight they are dancing the Viennese Waltz.
- Standing Ovation
- Len Goodman: Agrees that she had great musicality and that they showed the romantic side of the dance but the footwork was just not happening.
- Bruno: Thinks she had great musicality and agrees with Carrie Ann that the simplicity was beautiful.
- Carrie Ann: Thinks they proved that simplicity is the best route to success. She lets the lift slide this time because it was the ending to their dance.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
- Len: 8
- Bruno: 9
- Total: 26
- Next up is Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani. Last week they received two ten's for her Lindy Hop. Tony told her during rehearsal that she is not allowed to smile, the Paso Doble is very aggressive and she needs to be serious about it. Melissa is frustrated because she has a hard time getting into character.
- Len Goodman: Thinks Melissa is a excellent dancer, there was a couple blunders and lacked a
little aggression.
- Bruno: Thinks she went for it in a extremely difficult routine, yes she made mistakes but for him she looked stunning.
- Carrie Ann: Appreciates Melissa taking challenges but felt she was a little off tonight.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
- Len: 8
- Bruno: 9
- Total: 25
- Up next on the dance floor is David Alan Grier & Kym Johnson. Last week David's Lindy Hop was full of energy, but he still ended up in the middle of the pack. David is planning on bribing the judges to get better scores. He is very determined to show everyone that him and Kym are not done fighting. Tonight they are dancing the Viennese Waltz.
- Len Goodman: Loved the story of the whole dance and thinks it was a very beautiful performance.
- Bruno: Thinks the spell worked at times but does not like the tricks that David is doing. He wants him just to dance.
- Carrie Ann: Thinks Kym and David are not connecting during the dance and that is hurting them.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
- Len: 8
- Bruno: 7
- Total: 22
- Next on the dance floor is Cheryl Burke & Gilles Marini. Last week Cheryl and Gilles took home the season's first perfect score. Cheryl learned that Gilles is into martial arts so she decides to take him to a martial arts training center where he will learn to fight just like he needs to do for the Paso Doble tonight.
- Standing Ovation from audience and two of the judges!
- Len Goodman: Liked the passion and fire in the belly. Didn't like the shirt off but Tom just tells him he has "pec envy."
- Bruno: Stands up and hollers "Gilles you are going for the kill, that was more than a dance."
- Carrie Ann: Thinks that almost brought her to tears, it was so beautiful.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
- Len: 9
- Bruno: 10
- Total: 29
- Next on the dance floor is Steve-O & Lacey Schwimmer. Last week Steve let loose in the Lindy Hop, but the scores left him in the bottom three. Steve is confused though because he improved on the dance last week but the judges gave him the same scores from the week before. This week his Jackass friends come to visit and offer support for Steve
- Standing Ovation
- Len Goodman: Claims that was Steve's best dance so far of season.
- Bruno: Thinks he did a great job and that his timing was actually on time tonight. Techinally there is a still a lot of work to do but thinks it is a step in the right direction.
- Carrie Ann: Thinks there was a sweet innocence about the dance that came across, she just wants Steve to work on his posture for next week.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
- Len: 6
- Bruno: 6
- Total: 18
- Up next is Chelsie Hightower & Ty Murray. Last week Ty lit up the ball room with a Lindy Hop that topped the judges expectations and caused Carrie Ann to shout out loud "Ty Murray is a dancer!" The Paso Doble is a powerful dance and since it revolves around the bull Ty decided to take Chelsea out to see a bull up close.
- Standing Ovation
- Len Goodman: Thinks he has had two great dances back to back, so what if this one wasn't his best.
- Bruno: He thinks Ty did the dance but it was so robotic he looked liked he was a transformer. The steps where there but it was way to stiff.
- Carrie Ann: Agrees with Bruno and thinks he is thinking way to much.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
- Len: 7
- Bruno: 7
- Total: 21
- Last couple on the dance floor is Derek Hough & Lil Kim. Last week Lil Kim's Argentine Tango brought her to tears and she received the first 10 of the season. This week is busy for her, she has a magazine photo shoot and video shoot so she took Derek on the road with her. This week they are dancing the Viennese Waltz.
- Standing Ovation
- Len Goodman: Loved the musicality loved the floaty quality of the whole dance. Reminds her to go off her heels a little more.
- Bruno: Thinks he has never met anyone that made the Viennese Waltz look sassy. He also thinks they are in totally harmony with each other and that is one of the main keys of the competition!
- Carrie Ann: Claims she was beaming with pride during her whole performance, just like a proud mom.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
- Len: 8
- Bruno: 9
- Total: 26
- That's it for this competition. Which dance will the judges want to see tomorrow night? Which two couples will be in the dance-off and who will go home?
