Dancing with the Stars Week 2
- 3/16 Welcome to season 8 of Dancing with the Stars week 2. Stay tuned as we watch all 13 contestants perform one more time before Tuesdays elimination. Tonight we are missing Steve-O. He is suffering from a back injury, we will find out more later.
- First up is Holly Madison & Dmitry Chaplin. Because they haven't had that much time to get to know each other they play 20 questions. They are dancing the Quickstep.
- Len Goodman thinks the Quickstep is a very difficult dance and thinks she lacked posture, but good job.
- Bruno says she needs to keep up with her partner, she always looked like she was trying to catch up to her partner.
- Carrie Ann thinks that she was a doll and her partner just drug her around the floor.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
- Bruno: 6
- Len: 6
- Total: 18
- Last Weeks Total: 18
- Grand Total: 36
- Next on the dance floor is comedian David Alan Grier & Kym Johnson. David claims this week he wants to show people that he can dance and not just follow Kim around the floor. He has a few stumbles and asks how Cloris Leachman did it. They are dancing the Salsa.
- Len Goodman: For him there was to much of Kim and not enough of him. It lacked rhythm and hip action, it wasn't a good dance. All sizzle no salsa!
- Bruno: Your character was right, timing off but work on your timing and your hips.
- Carrie Ann: That was harder but it lacked being driven from the beats. She thinks he danced on top of the music and not with it.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
- Len: 5
- Bruno: 6
- Total:17
- Last Weeks Total: 19
- Grand Total: 36
- Next up is Denise Richards & Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Denise is having a hard time learning how to relax her upper body. Mak tells her to relax and have fun! Tonight they are dancing the Quickstep.
- Len Goodman: Len thinks there is great improvement and that was a job well done.
- Bruno: Its great to see you grabbing your tools and using them to your advantage. Great leg action, there is a good dancer in there, carry on!
- Carrie Ann: She thinks she found her elegance and strength and looked so elegant but a great improvement.
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
- Bruno: 7
- Len: 7
- Total: 21
- Last Weeks Total: 18
- Grand Total: 39
- Next on the dance floor is *Belinda Carlisle & Jonathan Roberts. Belinda has a hard time accepting the criticism from the judges. This week Jonathan wants her to perform more like she did when she was with the Go Go's. They are dancing the Salsa.
- Len Goodman: That was missing hip action but your performance was great!
- Bruno: Its great to see you let your hair down and shake it all about. Len is right, your hips are off. He decides to show everyone how she should go for it, Tom grabs his number 1 paddle and hands it to Belinda who holds it up as to judge him!
- Carrie Ann: I found it a little lacking grace. I love your musicality and your freedom is really nice to see.

- Bruno: 6

Chelsea says the quickstep is supposed to be fun and Ty seems to take it way to serious. He doesn't want to go out and be horrible again. They are dancing the Quickstep. They are performing to a cover of "Life is a Highway."
- Len Goodman: That was great, last week a catepillar, this week a butterfly!
- Bruno: You where riding that quickstep! What an improvement
- Carrie Ann: HeeeHaw! I'm so proud of you. Good job!

- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
- Len: 6
- Bruno: 7
- Total: 20

- Next up tonight is Olympic medalist Shawn Johnson & Ballas. Mark wants her to let loose and loosen up her hips. She giggles and claims there is no way she can do that! She has spent 16 years training to be frigid and stiff she can't stop now! They are dancing the Salsa.
- Len Goodman: You gotta throw caution to the wind, let it go a little more. Very nice
- Bruno: Your gonna be one of the cutest things I've ever seen. That was charming, precise, sharp, but you have to work on the naughtiness. Tom reminds Bruno she is only 17!
- Carrie Ann: Nothing more to say, I thought it was fantastic. You have the ability to concentrate. Halfway through your performance your hips went bam bam bam!
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
- Len: 8
- Bruno: 8
- Total: 24
- Last Weeks Total: 23
- Grand Total: 47
- Next is Karina Smirnoff & Steve Wozniak. Steve learns he is doing the Quickstep and remarks he loves the fast dance! Yes this is his dance (he claims). After rehearsing he realizes that there is a lot of weight pushing down on his knees and ends up going to the doctors to get his knee and ankle looked at.
- Len Goodman: I'm going to give you an extra point for using the Buddy Holly track.
- Bruno: You remind me of Wally, little rusty around the edges, in need spare parts but very resilient and incredibly charming.

- Bruno: 6
- Total: 17

- Len Goodman: Your young and energetic, come out and perform it, we want more from you!
- Bruno: You missed a great opportunity here, you let her do all the work. Do more!

- Bruno: 7
- Total: 20
- Last Weeks Total: 20
- Grand Total: 40
- Next is Lawrence Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska. At rehearsal Lawrence thinks the Quickstep is supposed to look like he is floating but he feels like he is sinking.
- Len Goodman: Practice but when you come out here just dance. That was much better!
- Bruno: That's a competitor! You took a few cracks last week and came right back out here and conquered it!
- Carrie Ann: That's the way I like it! Much better!
- Scores:
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
- Len: 6
- Bruno: 7
- Total: 20
- Last Weeks Total: 16
- Grand Total: 36
- Next is Steve-O & Lacey Schwimmer. Steve-O suffered a back injury during rehearsal and could not rehearse his tricks. During his Monday night rehearsal he did a front flip and landed on his mic pack on his back. He was rushed to the hospital and will not be performing tonight. He hopes to be back next week. According to the rules since he can't perform this evening the judges and the audience will judge his rehearsal performance.
- Len Goodman: I feel sorry for Steve. What I saw I didn't get it, there was no Salsa in the dance.
- Bruno: This was like a series of unfortunate events and none of it made sense. It was supposed to be a Salsa, where was the Salsa?
- Carrie Ann: I saw a lot of promise in Steve, I don't think it was the right thing for him to do in the Salsa.

- Len: 4
- Bruno: 5

- Next up is Derek Hough & Lil Kim. Kim is nervous about jumping from Hip Hop to Ballroom. She wants to show the world how elegant and refined she can be. They are dancing the Quickstep.
- Len Goodman: There was no body contact, you have to be refined. I enjoyed it but get refined!

- Bruno: 8
- Total: 23
- Last Weeks Total: 21
- Grand Total: 44
- Now it is time for Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani. Melissa comments that as a cheerleader everything was so big and you where projecting to the very top of the stadium. With the Salsa it is just the opposite everything is small and tight. She complains that nothing feels right.
- Len Goodman: I have to be honest with you, I was sitting here gyrating on the seat! It was absolutely fallon!
- Bruno: Now we are cooking! That was a juicy Salsa, so much flavor and content! I want more thank you!
- Carrie Ann: Finally! A real Salsa, You had it all, that was slamming!
