The Dancing with the Stars professional dancers are the dancers within each partnership that does the choreographing for each dance to be performed, and then they each teach their celebrities to do those dances. It takes many hours of hard work, repetitive actions to get it to perfection as a duo. When there are two or more dances performed with each show, and the show airs once a week, that means a lot of work in a little amount of time for both parties.

Louis van Amstel has been dancing from a very early age, is trained in theater and has a background in ballet, ap and jazz although his specialty is Latin style dancing. He also attended the University of the Arts in Amsterdam to study classical dance and theory. Louis is of Dutch descent who immigrated to the United States as an adult. He founded a company named VanDance, LLC and has choreographed, directed and performed in a feature production on Broadway called Latin Fusion. As well as all his accomplishments, he is the coach of another Dancing with the Stars professional dancer, Dmitry Chaplin. Cheryl Burke started in dancing by taking ballet lessons at the age of 4 and soon after she started performing. At the age of 11 she went to see her first competition and got hooked on to the costumes, the music and the way the way the dancers moved with their partners. Maksim Chmerkovskiy is nicknamed the Bad Boy of the Ballroom. He has toured in the national production of Dancing with the Stars, was a part of DTWS: Cardio Dance DVD, has starred in the sports competition the Superstars, and has played himself on All My Children. He is also a board member for DanceTeamUSA, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to inspiring American kids to get involved in DanceSport, he started Rising Stars Dance Academy for youth ballroom dancing, and through his own company Maksim Chmerkovskiy Productions, he organizes performances all over the world. Derek Hough is brother to Julianne, another "Dancing with the Stars" professional dancer. Derek started dancing when he was 11 years old in Salt Lake City, Utah. When he was 12, he and his sister Julianne moved to London to live and train with coaches Shirley and Corky Ballas. There, he became best friends with their son Mark Ballas, who is also a professional dancer on the "DTWS". Derek is a multi-talented performer as he enjoys acting as well as dancing. Damian Whitewood, an Australian who began dancing at the age of 10. In 2000, he stopped competing in dance to become a cast member of the Burn The Floor stage show. He has been touring with them ever since. Some of his career highlights include dancing with James Brown, Shirley Bassey, and Deep Purple.
