The Dancing With the Stars finale show is the culmination of a season of dance competitions. The ABC reality show pairs celebrities with professional dancers to compete weekly for a chance to win the championship. When the dance couples have been narrowed down to three remaining teams to compete, the season finale takes place.

For the finale, the eliminated couples from the preceding weeks are normally brought back to the dance floor for additional performances and a recap of the season's key moments. Additional guest performers highlight the evening, pushing the revelation of the winning couple to the final moments of the show.

The three remaining contestants in season 11 were asked to do two routines for their final score on the night of the finale. For their first rounds, the stars were permitted to perform their favorite routines from the season. Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough chose to repeat the Viennese Waltz from their first week on the competition. For the Cha Cha, performers danced to “Raise Your Glass” by Pink.
