• Dancing with the Stars is a reality show airing on ABC in the United States. It is based on the British BBC TV series Strictly Come Dancing. The show partners a celebrity with a professional dancer, with the best pair winning the grand prize of a mirror ball trophy. One pair is eliminated each week based on number of votes from viewers combined with the judges' score.

  May 19, 2009: Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas Jr. were crowned the winners on season 8. Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke came in second place while Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani came in third place.

  On March 23, 2009, Robert O'Ryan was arrested while trying to break into the Dancing set in search of celebrity contestant Shawn Johnson. According to TMZ, Ryan also brought guns and duct tape. Johnson's mother immediately filed for a restraining order against O'Ryan.TMZ: Johnson Fan Arrested (March 25, 2009) Johnson's dance partner, Mark Ballas and the rest of the cast was informed after the show ended that day. TMZ also reported that Johnson has hired an off-duty police officer as a bodyguard.
