Dana Perino

Dana Perino is the current White House Press Secretary. She was appointed to the post by President George W. Bush after the resignation of former secretary Tony Snow.

Early Life

Born in Wyoming, Perino was raised in Colorado. After receiving her Master's in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield, Perino worked as the press secretary for Colorado Congressman Dan Schaefer. In 2001, Perino became spokesperson for the Department of Justice before becoming the Director of Communications of the White House Council on Environmental Quality.

In 2006, Perino became the Deputy Press Secretary, and the following year, after Press Secretary Tony Snow resigned in order to undergo cancer therapy, she became the acting Secretary.
