  • Dan Fogelberg was a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist popular for his folk-pop work in the 1970s and 1980s.

From 1974 to 1979, he released a number of hit albums, spawning the singles "Part of the Plan," "The Power of Gold," "Same Old Lang Syne," and "Longer," which was his most successful song in terms of chart position (#2 on Billboard) and lasting popularity.

Even after his chart career ended, Fogelberg, an acclaimed live performer, continued touring and singing, either with a full band or solo acoustic shows.

Upon being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004, Fogelberg retired from making music, writing and recording only nine songs before his passing. One of them, "Sometimes a Song," was made for his wife in 2005.
