Damn Yankees Band

The Nineties supergroup was a bit of a different animal than that of 1960s and 1970s "supergroups" like Cream, Blind Faith or even Led Zeppelin, but if anyone qualified for the category it was Damn Yankees. The collaboration between Tommy Shaw of Styx and Jack Blades of Night Ranger made sense, and in fact after Damn Yankees ran its course the two continued as Shaw Blades. But with the rather suprising addition of the "Motor City Madman" Ted Nugent, Damn Yankees made for the perfect blend (for the time, at least) of grandiose pop hooks and gloriously over-the-top guitar hero histrionics.

On the Billboard Charts

  1. 1990: Damn Yankees (No. 13)
  2. 1992: Don't Tread (No. 22)
