Damages

The television drama Damages follows Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), a ruthless New York lawyer, who will stop at nothing to win a high-stakes legal case. The episodes are often told through the eyes of her associate and protege Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne). The tension is heightened by the fact that the FBI is investigating Patty, and Ellen has been recruited as their informant.Official Site: Damages

On June 16, 2009, Damages received several Emmy nominations, including one for outstanding drama series. Glenn Close won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Hewes.

Season Synopsis

Season one

Ellen Parsons, fresh out of law school, joins the firm of Patty Hewes and Associates and embarks on a career which changes her in ways she could not have forseen.

Patty Hewes as just taking on a class action suit again Arthur Frobisher. A billionaire accused of insider trading. Patty began to show how deep she will go to win a case, while Ellen falls deeper and deeper into a world of lies, murder and unethical illegal dealings. The case causes her to loose her fiance, who is found murdered in their apartment. Ellen is charged with his murder.

The story line goes back and forth slowing revealing Patty's shady dealings. By the end, the flash backs give the answers needed to solve everyones problems. The charges against Ellen are dropped. David's murderer is revealed and Frobisher case ends with him turning over the bulk of his fortune to the employees he had wronged.

The season end as Frobisher is shot and left for dead by an employee.

Season two

Focuses on Daniel Purcell. A scientist who shares a past with Patty Hewes and seeks her help when his wife Christine is murdered. Purcell has more than one secret in his closet. He has be working with Ultima National Resources, a energy firm that has been dumping hazards materials. Daniel turns on Patty in open court and sides with UNR opening her eye to not only his partership with UNR, but she also learns of his affair with Claire Maddox and his involvement in his wifes murder. Frobisher becomes a plaintiff against UNR for Patty to try and fix his image.

Ellen on the other hand starts working with the FBI to bring Patty down. Ellen still feel Patty tried to kill her, but it is discovered that it was Uncle Pete, in his attempt to protect Patty. While trying to put her life back on track Ellen meets Wes Krulik and begins to trust him with her secrets. However, he's working with Rick Messer, the cop Frobisher hired and who killed David Connor.

After a host of lies, brides and murder, The season ends with Wes executing Messer, in his defense of Ellen. Patty confuses to Ellen, as to her part in trying to have her killed in season one. Tom returns to work with Patty and Ellen embarkes on a new life free of Patty Hewes.

Season three Season 3 opens with Patty's car being rammed by another car as she drives along an open road. While at the police station it comes to her attention that the car is registered to Tom Shayes. The police also inform her that Tom has be found died in a dumpster.

Flash back six months, and it is learned that Patty and Tom have been working on a Ponzi scheme case involving Louis Tobin. For his loyalty and serves to the firm Patty makes Tom a full partner as they set out to find the money they believe the entire Tobin family is aware of.

Joe Tobin, who at first glance, looks to want nothing but the help Patty and get on with his life. Soon takes on where his father left off. And leads Patty in a game of hide and seek with the truth. In his need to take care of his family, Joe begans working with his fathers lawyer, Leonard Winstone to keep the money. Tom is revealed as one of the people that lost everything to the Tobin's. He works behind Patty's back to try and get back the money taking for his family.

Ellen, who now works for the Distric Attorney's office, begins leaking information to help Patty in the case.

Arthur Frobisher returns, still trying to go straight and clean his image, has started a environmentally-friendly company. But true to his nature, he slowly starts showing signs of the old Frobisher after partnering with an actor, Craig Bierko to make a movie of his life.

After numerous flash backs, lies and old habits returning, season three ends with Tom being killed by Joe Tobin, Leonard Winstone getting on a plane with the money and Patty and Ellen standing on the dock outside of Pattys home once again looking for a new start.
