Damageplan

Damageplan was a heavy metal band from Dallas, Texas that formed by former members of Pantera.

Career

Unhappy with the lack of commitment from their Pantera bandmates, brothers "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and Vinnie Paul formed New Found Power in 2003. They later changed their name to Damageplan. Along with Bob Zilla, the brothers tattoo artist, on Bass and former Halford guitarist, Pat Lachman, the band released one album, New Found Power, before Dimebag's murder in 2003

Murder of Dimebag Darrell

During a performance in Columbus, Ohio on the night of December 8, 2004, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was shot and killed onstage. He was 38 years old.

Three other men were also shot and killed, the bands manager Jeffery Thompson, roadie Erin Halk, and fan Nathan Bray. Police killed the gunman, Nathan Gale, a former U.S. Marine and paranoid schizophrenic, at the scene.
