Zoo North is the home to the traditional zoo animals, such as giraffes, tigers, and elephants. The Wilds of America section is the home to native animals of Africa, such as the crodile, African elephants, and gorillas.

The Dallas Zoo features many exotic and endangered species in natural habitats. The Zoo has undergone substantial changes in the past few years, adding new exhibits such as the Kimberly-Clark Chimpanzee Forest and the ExxonMobil Endangered Tiger Habitat. There is even a BugU where you can learn everything you ever wanted to know about bugs, insects, spiders and creepy crawly things.

One of the many newest attractions at the Dallas Zoo is the newest pachyderm which joined the zoo family on March 31, 2009. Gypsy, a 27-year old female African elephant arrived at the Dallas Zoo from a private facility where she had spent years traveling for entertainment programs. The Dallas Zoo also offers many educational programs for children and also runs a fun summer camp each year.

You can even take a virtual tour at the Dallas Zoo for only $6.95. It is a two hour tour like you have never seen before. You can answer trivia questions and learn about animal activities. Zoo RangerTMhttp://www.dallaszoo.com/ also keeps you on track with maps of the Zoo and identification of facilities such as cafes, gift shops and restrooms. A GPS signal is triggered when the Zoo RangerTM passes featured exhibits.
