Practice Facility Collapse
On May 2, 2009, one of the team's practice facilities in Irving, Texas, collapsed after severe weather hit the area. 12 were injured, including special teams coach Joe DeCamillis, who broke vertebrae in his back.ESPN.com: Injuries Reported at Cowboys' FacilityEarly Years
Established on January 28, 1960, the franchise was founded by owners Bedford Wynne and Clint Murchison, Jr. The first Head Coach for the team was Tom Landry. In it's inaugural season the team did not win a single game, but the Cowboys would eventually win it's first game in 1961. They would reach it's first NFL Championship game in 1966 and in 1967, losing twice to the Green Bay Packers. In 1971, they would lose their first Super Bowl, but the following season defeat the Baltimore Colts for their first Super Bowl championship.Jerry Jones Era
In 1984, H.R. Bright purchased the Cowboys from Clint Murchsion, under his reign the Cowboys failed to reach the Super Bowl and he quickly became disenchanted with the team. On February 25, 1989, Jerry Jones, the owner of a gas and oil exploration business, purchased the team. His first act as Owner was to fire the only Head Coach the team ever had in Tom Landry, and replaced him with then University of Miami Head Coach Jimmy Johnson. After suffering a season in which the Cowboys won only one game in 1989, the franchise used a series of trades and draft picks to rebuild the organization back into one of the elite teams in the league. They would go on and win Super Bowl Championships in 1992, 1993 and, even after the resignation of Jimmy Johnson one year later, in 1995.
