Dalia Dippolito of Boynton Beach, Florida was arrested for allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband of six months, Michael Dippolito. Dippolitio, married for just six months, offered to pay an undercover police officer $3,000 and gave him $1,200 to buy a murder weapon. Her plan unraveled on August 5, 2009, when she was arrested for solicitation to commit first-degree murder.http://www.bbpd.org/Press Releases/9038937Dippolito.pdf
The Boynton Beach police played along with Dippolito's scheme and went as far as putting up crime scene tape on her home. While Dippolito was at the gym, she received a phone from the police. When she arrived at her home, police told her that her husband had been murdered. She cried upon learning of his "death." The entire reaction was caught on video. When she went to the police station she was then told her husband was really alive.http://www.miamiherald.com/news/florida/AP/story/1172817.html
In January 2010, Michael Dippolito tried to have Dalia's name removed from the deed on their townhouse in Florida. The house was purchased shortly before they wed in February 2009. He transferred the title to Dalia in July of 2009, just before the murder-for-hire plot. The judge denied his request.http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/judge-rules-dalia-dippolitos-deed-to-home-is-187814.html?sort=desc
New Tape Released
In November 2009, investigators released a video tape (along with numerous documents) featuring Dippolito 'hiring' a hitman. The 'hitman' was actually an undercover informant working with police officers. In the video, Dippolito says she's "five thousand percent sure" that she wanted to go through with the murder-for-hire arrangement.http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/11/03/crimesider/entry5512655.shtml
The newly released documents also allege that Dalia Dippolito once tried to poison her husband with anti freeze and tried to set him up, to make it look as if he was a drug dealer.http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/11/03/crimesider/entry5512655.shtml
