Dairy Queen is a worldwide chain of ice cream and fast food restaurants. Dairy Queen was founded in Kankakee, Illinois in 1938, when a father and son team invented soft serve ice cream and began selling it out of their friend's store. One of the first businesses to be franchised, there are now 5,900 Dairy Queen stores worldwide. One of its most popular treats is the Blizzard Treat, which is soft serve ice cream mixed with pieces of cookies, candy or brownies and served upside down to show how thick it is.
