Daffodil Parade

  • The Daffodil Parade is a traditional event which takes place in several towns in Washington State each year. The 76th parade is scheduled for April 4, 2009; but donations are sharply down this year. During the parade volunteers will walk down the sides of the parades asking for donations. The News Tribune: PARADE: Future of Daffodil Festival depends on donors (April 4, 2009)

Normally, the Daffodil Parade requires that the daffodils used to decorate the floats be picked ahead of time. The flowers are blooming late this year; and the event was scheduled a week earlier, and the floats must make do with fewer blooms.News Tribune: Not-so-easy pickings (April 3, 2009)

An additional problem has been the lack of donations, because of the downturn in the economy. To help support the costs of the parade, volunteers will walk down both sides of the parade with buckets and signs reading "Help Keep The Festival A Float".The News Tribune: PARADE: Future of Daffodil Festival depends on donors (April 4, 2009)
